Flying Monsters 3D (Blu-ray 2D/3D+DVD combo pack)

imax show that flies well.
This is a good and well made british show that was made for imax type screens. It was shown on imax screens in the u.s. I have the europeon version that is 20 minutes longer and has alot more information on it. That version in at 50Hz and it did work on my panasonic vt television as well as my panasonic 3d blu ray player. it has a extra feature , the making of , on it too. Not all players or tv's can handle 50 hz blu rays though. If you want to play it safe then get the u.s. one. As to why they felt the need to cut out 20 minutes on the u.s. version ,when they didn't have to is beyond me. My version is filled with great cgi effects , some of which are very amazing. It tells of the evolution and change in the terrasaurs over 150 million years , from small reptiles to warm blooded tailess creatures filling many niches in nature. So it's worth owning for the info alone and the 3d scenes look great too. Plus it's done by david attenbourgh who is just a awesome narrator and scientist who...

Brilliant and breathtaking
This feature is currently being shown in IMAX theaters and is presented in this package in Blu-Ray 2D & 3D as well as DVD format. Under such circumstances, there is always a danger that spectacular visuals will allow the filmmaker to shortchange the audience on content. Two words prevent that from occurring in this instance--David Attenborough. Attenborough is a legendary master filmmaker as well as an unparalleled interpreter of the natural world. If he has made a bad film in the last forty years I must have missed it, and I do not miss anything that he has been involved with if I can help it. In this instance, Flying Monsters is a brilliant and technically masterful examination of the lives and evolution of the prehistoric flying reptiles known as pterosaurs. Attenborough suggests that pterosaurs evolved from gliding lizards and that they were initially adapting to feed on the vast clouds of insects found in prehistoric skies. It was of course inevitable that some life forms...

Disappointing!
I bought the DVD version and was very happy. Then I saw and bought this 3D version and it is beautiful. But 30min. were cut out or deleted. I was really mad. What happened to the other 30 min.? I suspect they left out those parts where it wasn't 3D. That's NO EXCUSE! I could live with some parts not in 3D. I feel cheated! False advertising! At the very least they could have indicated this on the label before people buy it. SO WARNING-- You will not get the full 70 min. ONLY 40 min. runtime.

Pirates Of Dark Water (4 Disc)

Bare-bones DVD Set
"The Pirates of Dark Water" is a wonderful cartoon series from the 1990s. A fantasy world is endangered and dying; only one man can save it. Humanoids and monstrous creatures abound. The character designs have a distinct Arabian or Sinbad feel to them. The protagonists are not a typical do-gooders; for example, they stole their sailing ship in the first episode. And (minor) characters do perish. The animation is typical Hanna-Barbera fare, but the voice acting is distinctive and includes Tim Curry and the woman who voiced the Little Mermaid. The content is 4 or 5-star content and very enjoyable.

After so many years of VHS tapes, illegal downloads, and streaming video, this series was finally released on DVD by Warner Brothers in 2010. It is a burn-on-demand product, so it should remain in-print for a long time to come. However, the audio and video have not been remastered for this DVD. No extras have been added either. Compared to the alternatives, this DVD set...

Glitchy DVDs make watching this series IMPOSSIBLE
Disc 1 of this dvd set is defected. Once the dvd was in, the Piracy warning came up and never went away. I managed to bypass it with a bit of button finagling. It skipped into the middle of an episode. While it plays, the film hiccups every few seconds continuously. It is impossible to watch the episodes on this disc. The other discs play well aside from a sparse few glitches that crop up here and there. POS dvds, Warner Bros. POS.

The show itself is still entertaining from what I've been able to watch. It deserves a better dvd treatment.

Always The Quest!
This is truely an amazing show by Hannah Barbara from the good ol' days of 1991.

The premise is as follows: on the alien world of Mer, an evil and sentient tar-like substance known as Dark Water is threatening to envelop the entire planet, killing everyone and everything. 17 years prior to the show's start, King Primus of Octopon, the largest and most beautiful kingdom on Mer, sets out with his loyal captains to retrieve the lost Thirteen Treasures of Rule. These jewels are the only thing that can contain the Dark Water in Mer's center, where it originates.

After retrieving several of the Treasures, Primus is captured by the terrible Lord Bloth, a pirate intent on taking the Treasures for himself so HE can control the Dark Water. The rest of Primus' crew evade capture and scatter the Treasures around Mer so Bloth can't get them.

After 17 years of imprisonment aboard Bloth's massive ship, the Maelstrom, Primus escapes and manages to return to Octopon,...

West Coast Swing Moves & Patterns Volume 1 (Shawn Trautman Dance Instruction)

Great new moves!
I am not new to West Coast Swing but I am certainly not an expert. I thoroughly enjoyed the light-hearted (they have FUN teaching) and informative DVD Moves and Patterns Vol. 1, and look forward to the rest of the series. If you have already gone through beginner DVD's or classes, this it a good next choice. One of my favorite parts was at the beginning where you learn how to start a dance without being arms-distance apart.

Shawn and Joanna Trautman explain the moves completely, and show close-ups of both hands and feet so you get a good snapshot of what you should look like doing the moves. I have also been lucky enough to attend more than one of his live classes, and even dance with Shawn Trautman personally. He is just as patient and fun to dance with in person as he is on the DVD!

Not too helpful
I am new to West Coast Swing and dance and I find the movements were hard to follow. I need something a with a little more explanation.

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero - The Complete First Series

Bad Discs
This is not about the TV series, but about the discs themselves. The first set I ordered had some sort of residue all over the disc surface. I tried to remove it, only to make it worse. I returned it and got another set, and the second set had the exact same problem. I would not want to play these in my ps3 or blu-ray player only to cause damage. Really, the disc surface looks terrible! Like they have dry glue on them or something. If I never accidentally dropped one on the floor, I might have never even noticed. Now, I am really going to make sure to check discs when I buy them. Luckily, I did not sell my Collector's Edition which I had planned to replace with this. I just wanted something that took up less space. Oh, well. I tried... twice.

Complete Original TV Series, Same Bad Remastering like w/ Transformers
Both G.I. Joe & Transformers Original TV Series were created by the same studio, SunBow/Marvel and they did a great job. Even if some of it seems a bit corny since you've grown up, the animation, story lines, characters etc. are in my opinion one of the best we have had in TV Animation especially in the 80s.

The bad news is the same studio (whoever they are? Rhino? Shout?) who remastered Transformers, also did this. So it suffers from the same issues.

-Video Remastered from original 35mm film with no proper 3:2 pull down with aliasing (jaggies) appearing.

-Some video (missing from film masters) is replaced with the old analog broadcast masters which appear "out of place" since they lower quality.

-Audio is never consistent on mixing voices and sound effects, varies from episode to episode. Sometimes sound effects are to loud and can't hear the voices, other times voices are to loud and barely hear the sound effects.

Great series, so so release
I grew up on this series, bought the toys and almost every tie in to G.I. Joe. I was very excited to see this release, I really wanted to the series but the foot locker was just over kill. First the packaging is well done, simple but informative. They basically repackaged the 4 DVD sets that had been previously released in one collection with a bonus outer slip case.

The overall audio and video of the series is pretty good but nothing to write home about. All the special features, PSA's etc that are included on the individual releases are intact.

The biggest gripe I have is the discs I originally received where either manufactured wrong or covered in some sort of solvent. The discs played fine in my tray loading DVD player but I was afraid to use them in my slot loading PS3. My only fear is the discs not lasting after repeated viewings due to the above issues.

Only time will tell, hopefully this does not affect the health of this box set.

Doctor Who: The Seeds Of Death (Story 48) - Special Edition

Nothing to Hissss About
As I am writing this in mid May, 2012, I have to state that this one almost got by me, thinking this "Special Edition" was an older product. But then I realized that this has not yet been released in the US. I got this last year as part of the U.K. Revisitations Box Set - Volume 2, which became available in March 2011. So this is a genuine review, unlike many of the other phonies who post "reviews" before the product is made available to them simply for the sake of making them.

As always, I'm not gong to give a synopsis of the story itself. If you don't know the story by now, there are plenty of other reviewers who will tell you all about it ad nauseam. Rather, I'm going to focus on what I believe will help you decide if this product is worthy of your hard earned wages by reviewing the extras which, in my opinion, can make or break a purchase.

DVD Audio Commentary - With Wendy Padburry, Frazer Hines, director Michael Ferguson, and Terrance Dicks. I actually...

The Ice Warriors are back! Who needs the "Special Edition"?
This is one of the most visually striking, compelling stories of Doctor Who's black-and-white era. After comparing the "Special Edition" with the original DVD release from 2004, I'm not sure the added features you get with the newer version warrant buying it again. (Amazon is, as of this writing, charging about the same for both versions, so if you're new to "The Seeds of Death," go for the new release by all means.)

As best as I can tell, the only thing new to the special edition are three good to middling new mini-documentaries that, respectively, trace the history of the Ice Warriors, look at the use of monsters on the show generally, and compare those iconic monsters that have made repeat appearances in the series. A fourth feature, which includes interviews with actors who played the Ice Warriors, is included with both versions.

In "The Seeds of Death," the Doctor, Jamie and Zoe land on a future Earth, which has given up traditional space travel with rocket...

Another Homerun!!!
I don't usually include a synopsis but I noticed that the other 6 reviews did not include one. So here it is.

At the end of the twenty-first century, a "T-Mat" (Teleportation) has replaced all other forms of transport. Manned space exploration has ceased due to the quality of life on Earth. The Doctor, (Patrick Troughton) Jamie and Zo arrive on Earth at the Rocketry Museum run by Professor Daniel Eldred. When the T-Mat relay station on the moon breaks down the Doctor and his companions volunteer to help Commander Radnor and his assistant repair the relay station by crewing a rocket Professor Eldred has been privately building in hopes of re-igniting an interest in space travel

Dog Bites Man: The Complete Series

This Raucous Comedy Central Mockumentary Style Sitcom Features An Essential Galifianakis Performance
Now here's a blast from 2006! The short-lived mockumentary sitcom "Dog Bites Man" from Comedy Central is available in this 2-disc Complete Series DVD set. Before you get too excited, though, the complete series was only 9 episodes at approximately 23 minutes each. The current list price of $39.95 before discounts and sales seems pretty steep for just over 3 hours worth of programming, so I'd certainly recommend keeping your eyes peeled for a reasonable sales price before investing. As a series, "Dog Bites Man" really combines the comedic principles of fictional news programming (think Daily Show) with the awkward workplace cinema verite style sitcoms (think The Office). This single camera show follows the misadventures of a TV news crew as they deal with personal issues while scouring the countryside for the next great story.

The show stars several comedy veterans including Matt Walsh of "Upright Citizens Brigade," Andrea Savage of "Funny or Die Presents..." and A.D. Miles...

The cult classic that is still waiting for its cult
It's hard to believe how obscure this series is given that it had 9 episodes on Comedy Central and given that it stars Zach Galifianakis. And especially given how rib-hurtingly hilarious it is. This was and remains the funniest series I've seen. Period. Only _The Sarah Silverman Program_ and _Community_ have come close.

If you like awkwardness-based humor, and if you like subtle non-verbal humor (facial expressions and voice inflections and mannerisms), then I feel confident saying that Dog Bites Man will make you pee your pants.

Funny
This is a pretty funny series. It is really awkward humor - sort of like the office. So if you like that show you may like this one.

Bleach: Uncut Set 13

Just...Awesome
This is, without a doubt, one of my favorite parts of Bleach. The set includes episodes 194 - 205, and the battles in these twelve episodes are just phenomenal. In this set we get to see the Espada battle some pretty powerful Soul Reapers and it is just fantastic. This set continues the main story line with Ichigo and the others fighting their way through Hueco Mundo after Grimjow's defeat. We are also given the chance to delve into Nel's past and her relationship with the Espada. Two episodes in is one of my favorite scenes in Bleach and I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but lets just say one side gets some pretty awesome reinforcements.

I know that these smaller releases have been debated on a lot of other reviews and I think the motivations for this have been examined thoroughly enough that I feel I have nothing new to add. I will not spend my money on the separated Bount Arc but good episodes like these I will not pass up on.

In conclusion...

Wrong aspect ratio
I'm not here to talk about the price, that has been talked about to death. I'm here to talk about the false advertising of uncut. They crop these episodes from the original 16x9 format to 4x3, which is just weird. I mean, we are in a 16x9 for everything format. And yes, it does make a difference. Characters body and heads are cut off. Words are cut off when they show the opening episodes cards. If any anime fans remember the whole crop fiasco of Dragon ball z from 4x3 to 16x9. Well, this is the same thing, but in reverse. I hope Viz fixes these on future releases, although the last 2 sets have been this way as well. Viz is only getting worse by: first the lack of extras, second, the price and less episodes, and third the crop of widescreen to 4x3. Viz do not care about there customers.

Nell saves the day
After defeating Grimmjow, Ichigo is being clobbered by Nnoitorra. Just before Ichigo is killed Nell transforms into her former self. She was a high ranked Aspada before she was betrayed and cast out. At the same time 4 Soul Reaper Captains come to save the stragglers in Las Noches. This volume of Bleach is awesome and totally unexpected. There is some awesome stuff packed into this box set. You really need to check it out.

San Francisco Symphony at 100 [Blu-ray]

SFS at 100
The San Francisco Symphony at 100 Blu-ray is a very good Blu-ray disc. I initially saw the broadcast on PBS several months ago and eagerly waited for the Blu-ray version. The PBS version is a two-hour broadcast and is hosted by author Amy Tan and features Tilson Thomas conducting the Orchestra and two of the leading artists of our time: legendary violinist Itzhak Perlman and the dynamic pianist Lang Lang.

The Blu-ray lacks the pianist Lang Lang, in which I was highly disappointed. Nevertheless, the picture and audio on the Blu-ray are superb and the extra features are good historical background. Although Amazon is showing a June 12th release date, I ordered it directly from SFS website:

I love this DVD. Very clearly explained and easy to follow. A very good practice aid for a total beginner or a trained professional.

This DVD was very well made - from it's organization of the movements to the execution of dance technique. It covers a good spectrum of material to be an excellent practice tool for the beginner as well as the experienced dancer. I highly recommend it.

Excellent resource!
This video is neatly divided up into DVD Chapters for head movements, neck movements, hand gestures, arm positions, steps, etc. It is easy to navigate to each section using the DVD Menu.

In each section the dancer demonstrates each step while someone calls out the name of each step. It goes from step 1 to step 2 to step 3 etc continuously, so it can also be used to follow along doing the movements as a practice session (or can be used like an encyclopedia to watch)

The video image quality and audio cues are good quality too.

essential purchase for lovers of Middle Eastern Dance
This video release really lives up to its title as it brings together five extremely rare film segments
of Middle Eastern dance, as introduced and edited by Ibrahim Farrah, certainly one of the foremost American authorities
on Middle Eastern/North African dance. The initial segment is the famous footage shot by Thomas Edison in 1897 of Fatima, an authentic traditional North African dancer, who reputedly performed at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. It is a "glimpse" indeed but precious--the earliest known footage of this style of dancing.. There are two segments of the guedra, a trance dance, presented-- one shot in 1950 in Morocco and the other a theatrical presentation featuring the dancer Jajouka, choreographed by Farrah. The Moroccan footage is especially precious as the guedra is normally danced as part of communal celebrations and is not presented for entertainment. So seeing authentic guedra is not readily available to people who live outside the relevant culture. Then...

Dogs in Space

Great movie, lots of fun
This is just to let everyone know you can get this movie on DVD but it is PAL only and there is a CD soundtrack available. Lots of fun to watch and it is an unusual film. The PAL version available will play on an XBOX360 so might play on other players as well. However, I can not check this. The xbox is the only one that I can promise it will play on. This movie is not available in the United States and has never been offered in the NTSC version. It is Pal only. It was released in Australia about 8 years ago for a short time. The quality is decidedly better then the VHS version but remember it was an indy film produced in Australia in the late 80s. There are 2 CD versions, a German and a Japanese release. They have extra music on them that were not on the tape and record.

Great movie! Wonderful soundtrack! Could we get a reissue?
This movie might not appeal to the 20 and under crowd...but for those of us at our prime in the 80's it's a flashback. I love watching it and remembering all the good/wild times of the period. And toast those no longer with us (and I don't just mean Michael).

Who is the smart guy that let this soundtrack go out of print?? Definitely worth a CD re-issue.

Lowenstein's Dogs in space BETTER than Cox's Sid & Nancy?
I thought the film Dogs in space was a better film better directing acting and plot (so to speak). The film set in Melbourne 1978 in a house with a group of youths who don't seem to have much direction in life. I think this might have been my second viewing of this film I hadn't seen the film in donkeys years and the last time I saw it I didn't really see the film proper like so it was good for a refresher. Within the film you get a glimpse of the Aussie punk scene a pity not much material was recorded some of the groups were great. This film is worth 5 stars and more the soundtrack (if you can find it) is very well worth tracking down. Now if only someone would release a decent DVD of this flick I'd be in line like a shot.

Washington: Behind Closed Doors

Sleaze Crime Sex Power; `Good Morning Mr. President'
It's 1977 but relevant as ever 35 years later. Astonishingly so! Pay phones-NO cells; no deleted expletives; VHS tape surveillance technology; and the film look of the late 70s--early 80s but its datedness is quickly forgotten THEN seen as a period political series with set-costume historic perfection. I lived the Nixon years (actually voted for him, OUCH!) This is powerful. Made me mad all over again, but also expect a compelling drive all the way to the 3 DVDs' end.
SUBTITLES for all 6 feature-length episodes.

One dialogue quote sums it up: "It's just so vicious. There's so much back-biting and insincerity." Perhaps too true in an election year. You may opt to stay away from the voter booth in favor of another viewing for this adaptation of Ehrlichman's book. Everyone knows the book and this series was about Nixon and Watergate. Author Ehrlichman was part of it. Like Haldeman, portrayed perfectly by Robert Vaughn under the fiction name of Flaherty, they did 18 months...

Nothing changes, does it?
I first watched this mini-series on British TV some years ago, and found it riveting. Having since enjoyed the film "The American President" and the entire West Wing series, I think Washington Behind Closed Doors was the first of these political dramas, showing the behind the scenes jockeying for position, power and privilege. But it was shown at a time just before most of us in the West began to doubt and mistrust most of our political "leaders", so it was in some ways quite shocking at the time. But it was also funny, sometimes hilariously so. Nicholas Pryor springs immediately to mind as a young man desperate to climb the greasy political pole, but a man also greatly lacking in confidence, someone who would behave as though he were a lord of creation when things were going well for him, but who disintegrated into a wimpish, snivelling, sweating wreck when he saw his golden future disappearing in front of his eyes. Charlie's Angels: The Complete Series (2011)

Fun series, beautiful angels, harshly & unfairly criticized
The three lead actresses were stunning, incredibly stylish and growing into their roles as Angels as Kate (Annie Ilonzeh), Abby (Rachael Taylor) and Eve (Minka Kelly). The idea of using Miami instead of Los Angeles for the location of the Townsend Agency was perfect, as colorful, exotic Miami with its beautiful skyline and Latin culture added flavor to the series. As in most series, the show, including the actresses' performances, improved (I admit, the pilot was a little over the top and was probably the main reason many critics failed to give the series the chance it deserved). Ramon Rodriguez was charismatic, sexy and sweet as the new Bosley. The background music was spectacular and some of the guest stars were great. The subplots involving each Angel and Bosley were intriguing, what a shame the series ended before they were developed. Episode 4, Angels in Chains, which was a tribute to the original series with its own twist (Angels have to become inmates in a Cuban prison to...

Shame it series ended
This series was a bit more like Mission Impossible from the eighties. But there was a chemistry in this reboot of the famous old series. Unfortunately this series found its introduction on a network what has no courage. (apologies) I stand corrected ABC almost never allows a series to complete its first season. Charlie's Angels the reboot suffered the same fate as many other promising starts such as Middle Man, and 666 Park Avenue. There is an additional episode in this pack. The additional story was the best of the season and shamefully never was allowed to see the light of day.

Fabulous remake of an old classic.
I just received this dvd set and writing this review as I watch it. The show sparkles in it's sunny Miami locales and the leading ladies are charismatic and beautiful, assertive and tough. What's not to love? Super sexy Puerto Rican actor Ramon Rodriguez is easy on the eyes and quite the match to the beautiful gals.
The series features lots of action and humor..plus a few underlying storylines that unfortunately will never be resolved due to the series' quick demise. Thumbs down to ABC network for that.

Unfairly criticized and prematurely hated by many critics, mostly in part to ABC's relentless chopping of long running favorite shows such as "Lost", this remake of Charlie's Angels was pure, downright fun fun fun. Devoid of convoluted sci-fi plots or overly sappy family matters drama as many viewers of ABC tend to favor, this show was about escapism and getting viewers involvement on the action packed plot twists and beautiful locations. Civilization: West & The Rest

Enthralling, Daring, Brilliant
Civilization: West & The Rest is an extremely sophisticated documentary for those with a love for history... and maybe some controversy. Make no mistake, you may find yourself not agreeing with Ferguson. I suggest you read his book (of the same name) for an even more comprehensive understanding of his views. However, not agreeing with someone's take on any given issue should not be grounds for condemnation or disregard. I, personally, find little to disagree with as far as his views on the rise of the West. In very simple terms, this is my take on Civilization: West & The Rest-- Ferguson presents a non-apologist's account on the rise of Western economic, political and cultural hegemony. He lays out a realist groundwork for why the West succeeded and why the 'Rest' failed. That said, by no means does Ferguson disregard the negative aspects of Western civilization (colonialism, slavery, genocide, rampant consumerism etc.) However, unlike the leftist literature/media that plagues...

Each to his own....and I'm enthralled.
Other reviewers have pointed out flaws in the material, commented on the jumpiness of the production, explained why Ferguson is totally wrong in some areas, and complained about what was left out. Surely he cannot be faulted for everything. No one can ever be completely right, and rarely is any lecturer totally wrong. But I was enthralled, as much as I had been with James Burke's Connections. There were very big ideas, colorful details, and days later I am still thinking about the program and the information it presented.

Regarding Protestant work ethic, I would highly recommend Simon Schama's An Embarrassment of Riches, which focuses on the success of the Netherlands, the societal guilt in admitting to so much wealth, and how they tried to perfect themselves as a nation.

Fascinating
Anyone who finds this boring doesn't appreciate history. Anyone who finds this too western-centric is simply missing the point and misreading history as well as Ferguson. Of course, trying to make a broad sweep of history in six 45-minute videos will leave out points some will find critical, and make some generalizations others will find offensive, but the genius of Ferguson's grasp of history and twenty-first century social media is evident across the six segments. Yes, there are connections back to James Burke's wonderful "Connections" series from thirty years ago, and fellow Harvard economic historian David Landes went into much more detail in his "Wealth and poverty of nations" treatise fifteen years ago, but for the student or just intellectually curious, this series is hard to beat. JACKIE CHAN ADVENTURES - SEASON 2 (4 Discs)

One of my all time favorites
Valmont as a cat... what more could a girl ask for? Granted, this episode could have been written better in some parts, I found this episode rushed and it could have been a two-parter, this is still a fun episode especially if you're a Valmont fan. MEOW!

again, great show BUT out of order episodes and quality is still bad
If you're looking at this review, you probably read my review for season 1. again, i love this show...it's great for adults and children. but amazon could have done a better job on the quality of the encodes along with making sure the episodes are in the proper order.

QUEEN OF THE SHADOWKAHN should be the fourth show of this season. in it, shendu mentions to valmont that a change in wardrobe is needed
AND HE DOES HIS OWN STUNTS should then follow queen of the shadowkahn. this episode is where we first see valmont trying on a new wardrobe (a sorcerer's robe which valmont calls a dress).
by default, this would make RUMBLE IN THE BIG HOUSE episode six of this season which makes sense since valmont is already wearing said robe.

another thing about this season. The first 13 episodes all following a continuing story about the demon sorcerers so make sure to watch these in order. however, episodes 14-36 (not counting the last three episodes which should be...

Heartland - The Complete Second Season

BE ADVISED: "GMC" Release Is Season 2: Ep. 10 to Season 3: Ep. 14
First, to rate the show-- it fully deserves 5 stars! It's definitely one of my (few) favorite current shows I watch. I actually first saw the show on the "CW Network" in the US in late 2010, and soon afterwards caught up on all the episodes posted online (FYI, the CW network is no longer airing episodes in the US, only GMCTV).
Now, I'm current, and am awaiting the new season 6 which airs on the CBC in Canada!
**EDIT: There WILL be a Season 7 sometime around Sept. 2013!**

In regards to the dvd set I received:

This is the mistake I just figured out tonight (AFTER I removed the wrapper & discs)... At the very bottom (the last sentence) on the back cover, it states: "Please Note: This Package Contains Episodes 23 To 45 Of Heartland As Seen On GMCTV".

I went online and compared the original CBC/Canadian lineup with the episodes named in the "GMCTV's Completed Second Season" set, and figured out that it is in fact season 2...

Great series - be careful of which set you're getting
This is a fantastic series, but this season 2 picks up 9 episodes after season 1 ends. There's a complete list on Wikipedia. The series was apparently released in two versions, with one of them having the 'as seen on GMC' note. If you start with one set, keep on with it. The two sets can't be mixed and matched very well, as you'll find yourself with missing or overlapping episodes. Hopefully this will help others avoid confusion when Episode 1 of Season 2 starts off with "previously on Heartland"... only to be full of characters and storylines that weren't on Season 1!

Heartland the Complete Second Season is NOT COMPLETE
I purchased this DVD for our daughter. After starting to watch the first episode she realized that the first episode did not follow the last episode on season 1. The top portion of the front cover says as seen on gmc. At the bottom it states Complete Second Season. On the back cover at the bottom in very small lettering it states this package contains episodes 23-45 of heartland as seen on gmctv. I actually love this series but I think the packaging was very deceitful and I would have purchased the other version of this series if I had known this was not truely the complete second season.

The Twilight Zone: The Complete Series [Blu-ray]

astonishing
Giving this set a bad rating because you already bought an earlier set is doing any potential buyers of this set a grave injustice.

It is, simply, astonishing. Why? Start with digital transfers from the original camera negatives and magnetic tracks. Add commentaries for the majority of episodes. And multiple commentaries for several episodes. Add Rod Serling's college lectures used for commentaries. Add interviews with cast and crew members. Add isolated msic scores. Add intros and outros. Add network promo spots. Add the TWILIGHT ZONE radio dramas and comic books...I could go on but why bother? If you are a TWILIGHT ZONE FAN, you won't be disappointed.

Twilight zone
I am a real fan of Rod Serling's Twilight Zone. I bought the 42 VHS collection of Twilight Zone via Columbia House Canada and paid nearly $1500.00 for the entire collection more than ten years ago. What a deal to obtain the DVD collection with all the extras for a fraction of what I paid for the VHS. The quality is excellent. One little note: there is no close caption for the season one but no problem for seasons 2,3,4,5. Thank you Amazon. I live in Québec canada and it took only five days to receive the collection by regular mail.

This show was absolutely fantastic. The writing, the acting, the production value, everything about this show was/is/and will always be perfect. You couldn't make a show like this now. It has too much depth, too much insight, too much actual truth in it for the networks to handle. It seems as though television's motto today is, "Keep 'em numb, keep 'em dumb". Yeah, there are a few good shows that actually have some intelligence to them, but nothing packs a punch like the original Twilight Zone. The beauty of Serling and his collaborator's writing was that it was tight and yet sparse. They didn't spell everything out for you. They assumed you had a brain and that you were capable enough to use it. In...

Restored, preserved and now shared with the world. This collection of the 190 Columbia Shorts starring the boys now includes 28 shorts made by Shemp Howard, Joe Besser and Joe Derita.
The credit for the restoration goes to Grover Crisp and his outstanding crew of film preservationists. All the shorts were preserved onto film stock and mastered onto digital formats. This allows for the films to be projected either from 35mm film sources and digitally from DCP or DVD.

The reason these made it to home video is due to the tenacity of one individual; an executive at Sony who knows the importance of the "solo" shorts to the fans of the Stooges. He has been in the industry for over thirty years, making sure that many films were saved from extinction and, for the fans, pushing hard for their exhibition in revival houses and on home screens. Why have only the Stooges survived from Columbia's heyday??
Great to see Columbia release the entire "canon" of the 190 Stooge shorts in one set; it is an iconic body of work, and automatically gets the five-star rating.

Also great to see Columbia's 3-disk supplement, which will give the general public (who only know the Stooges as a team) an idea of the OTHER comedy shorts that were being churned out by Columbia during their heyday. You will see the same directors, writers AND supporting cast members that we have come to know and love through their work with the Stooges...and it's cool to see them in all of these unfamiliar efforts (three of the Shemp appearances are in films starring the wacky but sad-sack Andy Clyde, who was Columbia studio's 2nd-biggest comedy film-star after the Stooges).

HOWEVER---BE ADVISED: there's a reason that only the Stooges shorts have survived in the public consciouness for the past 80 years; for even when an excellent director like Ed Bernds, who did such great work with the Stooges, worked...

Great set of comedy shorts with NEW BONUS MATERIAL of the stars solo shorts!
