Great film
bluntreview (dot) com says: France is usually the place to find small amazing films. This is no exception. The Hedgehog tiptoes through a few lives. The lens and players quietly sharing moments that ultimately ad up to a film that leaves you feeling...literally feeling. And these days saying a film raised an emotion (other than excitement due to an energetic edit or hyper sound system) says a lot.

Story goes...Little Paloma (Garance Le Guillermic) is facing another birthday. She will be twelve. She has decided not to be twelve. She is planning to kill herself as she feels death is nothing. Paloma is a deeply introverted brooding - but charming - child.

She is also a rich child in a rich home. Her family is busy with their own dramas (imagined and real). They know Paloma is there, but not who she is.

With her father's old video camera Paloma begins to document what she has determined will be her last 165 days. A child of Nietzsche-esque tendencies...

LIFE-AFFIRMING
This very French, life-affirming film about the unlikely friendship between a precocious 11 year old determined to end her life on her 12th birthday and the gruff super or concierge of the Parisian building in which her family lives caught me by surprise. Based on Muriel Barbery's "The Elegance of the Hedgehog," this film gets everything just about right as the young girl discovers that life itself holds secrets if one risks connecting with another. Even if that person has a harsh, gruff exterior. This terrifically entertaining movie plays with darkness, light and grace.

Excellent movie!
I read the book and today I watch the movie. Both are excellent, something rarely seen. It's a story about waking up to life, sprinkled with colorful and deep reflections. Highly recommend.

Dynasty: The Sixth Season

"Hello To The Carringtons!"
Paramount will be releasing the complete sixth season of "Dynasty" on DVD in a 2 pack set on July 3, 2012. Fans can either purchase each pack with 15 episodes each or buy both DVD packs together which will house the season's full 30 episodes. The sets will unfortunately have no bonus features.

The sixth season of "Dynasty" (1985-1986) was an amazing year as it started with the outcome of the show's biggest cliffhanger: "Who survived the Moldavia Massacre?". There are two deaths and I won't saw who they are. This was the year too that Joan Collins received a substantial pay hike making $100,000 per episode making her, at that time, the highest-paid actress on network U.S. television. Contract talks between Joan and ABC broke down during the summer of '85 so bad that she actually is missing fom the very first episode. Thankfully, ABC caved in and gave Joan what she wanted.

Surprised and thrilled!!!
After owning the uk set released a year ago.I was expecting the North american set to look the same using the washed out film to tape they aired back in 86.To my surprise it seem's they ethier remastered it or found the original film because it look's amazing! The picture is clear and vibrant.It's mystery why the uk did'nt get this the first time around but kudo's to CbS for making the effort.This being my favorite season i can now enjoy it the way it was supposed to look.For 30 year old show this look's even better than season 5!

Excellent Picture/Sound Quality
Just got my Season 6 DVDs, and I am thrilled to report that the picture and sound quality are excellent. The quality is so good in fact, that if you weren't aware that the season was filmed in 1985, you might think it was filmed within the last few years (unlike seasons 1-3, which definitely have a late 70's-early 80's feel).

I am thoroughly happy with my set, in spite of the high price we are forced to pay.

Deliverance (1972) (BD) [Blu-ray]

A classic thriller has been remastered and loaded with extras
This DVD is the 35th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of the film. One of the great things about Deliverance is that, even though it is an adventure filmed in the 1970's, it has managed to not age like a 70's film. It is both depressing and edge-of-your-seat suspenseful at the same time. The four leads do a tremendous job of playing the parts of urban dwellers who want a weekend of adventure in the wilds of Georgia and wind up getting far more than they bargained for. It has much to say about what it takes to make a man uncivilized and whether or not there is a bit of savagery in all of us, despite how domesticated we may be in predictable situations. Past these observation I won't rehash the plot elements since just about everybody on earth knows the details, and if you don't I won't spoil it for you. When it comes to fictional survival stories, few can approach the sheer grueling brutality of DELIVERANCE. Davey and Goliath Collection

this item is great the box its self was a little weak but is ok because the dvds are the ones i really care about i have done all of my looking around and read about this item from alot of sites this is the complete tv show from the 1960's every show is on here and the missing ep,and the special ep as well..and so far amazon has the lower price for it from where i been looking so if you ever thought about getting this i say you have nothing to lose these are great

Brings back memories
I was happy to see they put these on DVD ..most of us forgot about these.. next is Gumby and Pokey !!

"Oh Davey"
Bought these for my 7 year old son, because my husband and I remembered watching Davey and Goliath when we were kids. We like that they have good morals, even though we have noticed that Davey is pretty bratty in a lot of the episodes, he always learns his lesson, and they mention God a lot, and even pray in the episodes. We love Goliath's comic relief, like when he says "if he calls me Bow wow Goliath one more time, I'll bite him.". or when Davey says "hot dog!", and Goliath says, "Oh Davey, don't say that!" Makes us laugh every time. I would recommend for kiddos whose parents are trying to keep them a little more innocent than our society lets them be. 4 outta 5 stars.

Needless Complete Collection [Blu-ray]

Surprisingly Entertaining And Enjoyable Series With Good Story Too
While I wasn't expecting a great series it still actually surprised me at how entertained I did find it, the series feels like a mix of Naruto/Bleach/Ranma mixed together and while as expected there is a ton of fan service in the series the story and action made the series a lot more entertaining then first expected. The set gives you the entire series as well as the special OVA's as well, and while a little pricey($60.00)the series feels worth the price, though I'd advise people to check a few episodes online first just to make sure this is a anime series you'd enjoy. The animation and soundtrack fit nicely together and the voice cast did a very good job in their character roles, also yes unlike the first release this set does have the subbed and dubbed audio tracks. Other then the OVA's the extras aren't anything to shout about just the usual textless intro/ending songs and some trailers.Unlike another series I recently purchased many of these characters do endear themselves to...

Very Entertaining
I purchased this video based on its description without first watching it online. While it started off different than most that I normally watch, I found it entertaining enough that I actually had to stay up very late to watch it all the way thru.

The 24 episodes cover the story very well. It is organized in mostly chronological order, although story background is covered in several sections by having entire episodes dedicated to fully covering the background stories of various characters.

The focus of the story is a basic struggle against oppression with a very healthy dose of fan service included. Lots of magical powers, panty shots and humor mixed together well. Not recommended for kids.

the place of this anime is set in japan after a bomb goes of and creates a sot in the land were things are .. different. people with strange powers appear and fight to control this area now called the black spot, which is under control of a pharmaceutics company called simion controlled by the villian. the people with odd powers are "needless" and have a fractal or power they use. the beginning and ending animations make this show look pervy but at most it shows a bouncing boob or girls bending over and having a tight butt. mainly girls are small with small breasts so this isnt a common factor.

the main charater is normal oddly enough and is searching for his sister with the help of his friends and is going to defeat simion. for some reason reminds me of gurren laggen dont know why. anyway its great, comedy,action,romance anime and you will...

Most Dangerous Game / Gow the Headhunter [Blu-ray]

This isn't a sales pitch even though I will benefit if you buy it. It's just that the information from amazon.com is so sparse that I think anyone potentially interested should know more before deciding whether or not to part with their hard-earned.

"The Most Dangerous Game" is obviously the engine pulling this train, and in my opinion, it's one of the outstanding action-adventure films from the early 1930s. Although it is often thought of as a place-holder for "King Kong," having been made on many of the same sets with many of the same cast and crew, it's a very notable achievement on its own. It has been available on a nice DVD from Criterion, as well as on public domain editions usually bootlegged from Criterion's copy; but the beautiful quality of Flicker Alley's Blu-Ray is likely to amaze you. We started with the original 35mm studio fine grain master, and the HD transfer was then restored from the original Radio Pictures tower to the end; not to the point where it...

The Best Version of a Classic
First of all,in my review of the Flicker Alley Blu-ray,I will skip commenting on the second feature on this disc:"Gow the Headhunter(Cannibal Island)--I'm more interested in the primary feature:"The Most Dangerous Game".This pre-Code version of Richard Connell's often filmed and ripped-off story is the best here.But before you check out the homages and imitators like "Surviving the Game" or "Game of Death",be sure you check this one out first.I'll skip the synopsis for the sake of all who are already familiar with the storyline of the megalomaniacal Count Zaroff(wildly played by Leslie Banks with deranged flair)hunting Human quarry played by Joel McCrae and Fay Wray.The restoration of this film by Lobster Films is superb.The large absence of flecks and artifacts make the legacy of this film after more than 80 years,that much more great.Comparing this to the Criterion Collection DVD previously available,I would give a slight edge to this version.Go watch this movie and prepare to be...
