Giving this set a bad rating because you already bought an earlier set is doing any potential buyers of this set a grave injustice.

It is, simply, astonishing. Why? Start with digital transfers from the original camera negatives and magnetic tracks. Add commentaries for the majority of episodes. And multiple commentaries for several episodes. Add Rod Serling's college lectures used for commentaries. Add interviews with cast and crew members. Add isolated msic scores. Add intros and outros. Add network promo spots. Add the TWILIGHT ZONE radio dramas and comic books...I could go on but why bother? If you are a TWILIGHT ZONE FAN, you won't be disappointed.

Twilight zone
I am a real fan of Rod Serling's Twilight Zone. I bought the 42 VHS collection of Twilight Zone via Columbia House Canada and paid nearly $1500.00 for the entire collection more than ten years ago. What a deal to obtain the DVD collection with all the extras for a fraction of what I paid for the VHS. The quality is excellent. One little note: there is no close caption for the season one but no problem for seasons 2,3,4,5. Thank you Amazon. I live in Québec canada and it took only five days to receive the collection by regular mail.

This show was absolutely fantastic. The writing, the acting, the production value, everything about this show was/is/and will always be perfect. You couldn't make a show like this now. It has too much depth, too much insight, too much actual truth in it for the networks to handle. It seems as though television's motto today is, "Keep 'em numb, keep 'em dumb". Yeah, there are a few good shows that actually have some intelligence to them, but nothing packs a punch like the original Twilight Zone. The beauty of Serling and his collaborator's writing was that it was tight and yet sparse. They didn't spell everything out for you. They assumed you had a brain and that you were capable enough to use it. In...

Restored, preserved and now shared with the world. This collection of the 190 Columbia Shorts starring the boys now includes 28 shorts made by Shemp Howard, Joe Besser and Joe Derita.
The credit for the restoration goes to Grover Crisp and his outstanding crew of film preservationists. All the shorts were preserved onto film stock and mastered onto digital formats. This allows for the films to be projected either from 35mm film sources and digitally from DCP or DVD.

The reason these made it to home video is due to the tenacity of one individual; an executive at Sony who knows the importance of the "solo" shorts to the fans of the Stooges. He has been in the industry for over thirty years, making sure that many films were saved from extinction and, for the fans, pushing hard for their exhibition in revival houses and on home screens. Why have only the Stooges survived from Columbia's heyday??
Great to see Columbia release the entire "canon" of the 190 Stooge shorts in one set; it is an iconic body of work, and automatically gets the five-star rating.

Also great to see Columbia's 3-disk supplement, which will give the general public (who only know the Stooges as a team) an idea of the OTHER comedy shorts that were being churned out by Columbia during their heyday. You will see the same directors, writers AND supporting cast members that we have come to know and love through their work with the Stooges...and it's cool to see them in all of these unfamiliar efforts (three of the Shemp appearances are in films starring the wacky but sad-sack Andy Clyde, who was Columbia studio's 2nd-biggest comedy film-star after the Stooges).

HOWEVER---BE ADVISED: there's a reason that only the Stooges shorts have survived in the public consciouness for the past 80 years; for even when an excellent director like Ed Bernds, who did such great work with the Stooges, worked...

One of the best and most original westerns of all time.
"High Plains Drifter" (1973) is one of the best and most original westerns of all time. It is also of of the best films that Clint Eastwood has ever made. It was only the second film that Eastwood ever directed, yet it is a western masterpiece, as it funnels all of the violent, harsh, and brutal images and themes that were first seen in the Sergio Leone spaghetti westerns (which made Eastwood an international star) into one picture. No other film blurrs the lines of good and evil like this one. No other film has humor that is so dark and so black. No other film tests and re-defines the nature of screen heroism, as Eastwood plays his darkest and most enigmatic character ever. This film strips the western to its most brutal, raw, violent, and merciless essence, revealing the old West to be a truly immoral and corrupt land. Eastwood's compulsive, surrealistic imagery is both haunting and powerful, and it works in pefect tandem with Dee Barton's eerie score...

High Plains Drifter - Another great Eastwood western!
In this classic western, Clint Eastwood performs admirably as producer, director and of course starring in the lead role. High Plains Drifter is an excellent tale that highlights Eastwood's talents in this genre, whether it's his "Stranger" type aura or the clipped but poignant lines. This great western has a superb script and exceptional performances by Eastwood and the other actors. Its surreal style, unexpected plot twists and great camera angles serve well to enhance this movies overall appearance. I do not normally comment on the soundtrack for films however, in this case I feel compelled to because I felt the soundtrack for this one is a perfect accoutrement to the overall feel of the movie!

Hell On Earth
"How do you know what the world is like? Do you know the world is a foul sty? Do you know, if you rip off the fronts of houses that you'd find swine? The world's a hell."

No, those lines are not from Clint Eastwood's 1973 masterpiece "High Plains Drifter." Actually, they were spoken by Joseph Cotten in Alfred Hitchcock's 1943 suspense movie, "Shadow of a Doubt." But no other words can better capture the essence of this darkest and bleakest of Westerns.

Clint Eastwood reprises his most famous role, "The Man With No Name" that made him a household name in such Sergio Leone movies as "For a Few Dollars More" and "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly." Some people claim this movie as a "revisionist Western," but to me it is a little more complicated than that. "High Plains Drifter" is a harrowing admixture of elements from such disparate works as "High Noon," "Peyton Place," "The Count of Monte Cristo" and Dante's "Inferno."

Sheena: The Complete First Season

Nice DVD set
This is a made to order DVD, that uses DVD-R media. Some very old DVD players might not be compatable. The episodes look very nice, just a simple menu no extras. Be sure to open it right away to check the disks. The first time I ordered I got only three disks. This is quality control problem at the manufacturer, not Amazon's fault.

Sheena- Season 1
Fun attempt by Steven Sears(and others) to revive the old Sheena in Africa story, with Gina Nolin a beautiful if not wholly convincing hero--her supporting cast is adequate, and the Florida-for-Africa photography is often quite lovely. The storylines are mostly straightforward, as they were in the original; what differs here, is Sheena's ability to morph into any non-human animal with whom she makes eye contact (her corresponding change in mass has not yet been addressed). The series is fun and visually moving, worthwhile if taken on its own terms.

Remember: this series was shot in 16mm
SHEENA will never look as good as network TV because it was not filmed in 35mm. These new domestic Season 1 and 2 sets are apparently remastered, but that can only get you so far. I purchased the Spanish DVD some time ago, and the quality was perfectly fine for a 16mm show -- certainly as good as SHEENA ever looked in syndication. I'm sure these new sets will be even nicer (star rating based on expectations). Update: Judging from the clip Amazon has provided, the SHEENA series is apparently being offered in a widescreen (16 x 9) format, despite the 1.33 designation in the specs. Quality looks excellent, superior to original broadcast. Gary G.

LES MILLS PUMP Ultimate Cross Training Deluxe DVDs

I been working out to the Les Mills Body Pump DVD set for a few months now, my body is leaner and looking really great. I just started with the "Ultimate Cross Training Deluxe DVDs". They compliment the Pump series.

Great workout!
I have the Les Mills Pump DVDs and wanted to give the Cross Training Deluxe a try. I am hooked on the Combat DVD. I do not have step yet so I haven't tried the Step workout and the Sports Attack is good but short so it's nice to do this after you do the Pump Extreme workout so you feel like you have gotten a good workout but love Combat. It makes me feel strong and empowered. Definitely would recommend.

Just like the gym classes
I took these classes at the local gym and I am happy to say that it's just like being in a class full of people; the energy is great and the music is good.
