Rocky & Bullwinkle & Friends: The Complete Series

Worth a purchase for "newbies"
I'd complained earlier about this set being the epitome' of manufacturer greed by not offering Season 5 as a stand-alone release. That has been rectified!!!

If you do not own *any* R&B this set *may* be the one to get as it includes all 5 seasons plus a few "bonus" items: A Gold Ribbon, Frostbit Falls Field Guide, and an Episode Guide. BUT, the disks for Seasons 1-4 are the same as in previous sets. This means we still have musical changes on the opening/closing passed off as "those preferred by Jay Ward", the "bugs" on the video, and double-sided disks for Season 2. In addition you'll get lousy packaging consisting of disks in cardboard sleves guaranteed to scratch your disks.

If you don't care about the "bonus" items you may want to pick up the individual seasons when on sale just for...

Concise set for the collector.
A lot of people have complained that this product is the exact same as the previously released sets. While they are correct (seasons 1-4 are the exact same discs) they are missing the point entirely. For starters the set takes up so much less space on the shelf. (When I put it where my old season sets were it took up the space of season 1 and a half). This may not seem like a big deal but this is valuable space to most dvd collectors. The set also comes with a cool piece of memorabilia (A button ribbon of Bullwinkle) in a manilla envelope (obviously based on something that was originally given to R&B fans). Along with this piece is a nicely done book (the size of a dvd) that retells the story of Jay Ward and most of the segments for the show. It's a really cool and concise book with some really interesting facts. The packaging is awesome and done with a lot of care. I understand people's frustration with the absence of a Season 5 set, however to have all these dvds in one package is...

DVDs are badly packaged which means scratches and scuffs!
I received this set yesterday and,I hate the way they have placed the DVDs!

This is the kind of way none of us like, where the discs just slip into a cardboard pocket. Its tough to try and grab the disc out and also, as is always the case when DVDs are placed this way, there is a lot of scuffs and scratches on the DVDs. And then there is the problem of trying to put the DVD back into the pocket. At the price they are charging for this, you would think they would have perhaps put the single season sets into this box or, used hubs to hold the discs so they would not get scratched and scuffed.

The box itself is nice the way it opens up, and inside is a book titled "FROSTBITE FALLS FIELD GUIDE" by Keith Scott. There is a page at the start written by Kimberly Ward. The book has photos and is filled with info on how the show was started and nice interesting stuff. and then there is An episode guide for each DVD of whats on each.

Protect the Boss

Amazing!
This is an excellent romantic comedy! I laughed every episode. There are so many funny parts and awkward, juicy moments.

The characters are all so likeable--even the ones you detest in the beginning. You wind up liking everybody in the series by the time you get to the end, and you're kind of rooting for them all. The relationships between the characters are really deep and realistic too.

My only complaint is that it drags out a little toward the end and gets a bit serious for an episode or two. But then it gets its light-hearted air back and has a really nice ending that ties up all the loose ends.

I highly recommend Protect the Boss to anyone who's looking for an all-ages, light-hearted, fun, romantic series. You'll really like it!

Protect the Boss
Excellent K-drama. The storyline was great, about a young lady from the rough side of town who just wants to make a decent living. I loved the idea of having a "wrestler" (a female) as her best friend and the both of them being tough-as-nails. The immature, eccentric rich man with a phobia (anxiety attacks) was hilarious. All-in-all, the drama kept me in front of the television screen. The entire cast was great, the two leads - Choi Gang-Hee and Ji Sung - were unknown actors to me. I now look for their names. Protect the Boss is so worth its cost. It is a great comedy-love story.

Love it!
It was such a refreshing to watch this drama. It had a different concept then the usual dramas. I loved every episode from the beginning through the end.

DAVE Y EL PEPINILLO GIGANTE (DAVE AND THE GIANT PICKLE)

VEGGIE TALE "BIBLE" CHARACTERS "ACT THEIR HEARTS OUT"
I just spent a delightful day watching this video, over, and over, and over. My Granddaughter, Brooke, age 3 knows the story of David and Goliath by heart ! She has become a theologian. What an incredible video idea. Brooke also knows the other Bible Stories, as she has a collection of the Veggie Tales. Her Mother and Father sing the songs and are also learning the stories with her; just in case they had not known them before, or needed to be reminded again. What a great idea ! You will fall in love with all the Veggie Tale Characters who "act their hearts out" making the Bible come alive in your homes. Hats off to these wonderful people who bring us this worthwhile project ! Who said "the world is going to hell in a handbasket" ? They just might be wrong, when little children are growing up learning the truth of the scripture acted out in a great and entertaining way ! Grandparents need not call and ask for gift ideas any longer...

My favorite of them all
I'm an adult Veggie Tales fan who got introduced to the series through a bunch of college kids. I love the series because there is something for all age groups. Just for kids? No.

Anyway... this one is my favorite. There are all kinds of gags worked into the story that kids would miss but that adults will enjoy, espcially in the battlefield scenes. The important parts of the story are kept sacred, then nothing else is. Where something funny can fit in, it's there. It's a good laugh even when there aren't kids in the house.

A great DVD!
I love everything Veggie Tales so I'll say that up front, but this is a great one. It includes the Silly Song "I Love my Lips" which is hilarious. I highly recommend this DVD to anyone who likes Veggie Tales or even anyone who has never even seen anything VT and just wants an entertaining, wholesome DVD for their kids that is also funny and interesting to adults.

Earth Flight [Blu-ray]

On par with Planet Earth, Life and Frozen Planet...
THE GIST: Six continents. Four years worth of filming. Literally, shot from the birds point-of-view. You see what the bird sees. You get to experience the choices he makes, the scenery and expansive, often dangerous, landscapes he navigates.

So I picked up this Blu-Ray series a week or so ago and I'm already finished. I was watching two episodes a night, completely sucked in. Originally, I thought I could restrain myself and watch one episode every other night, but it's just an impossibility with this highly edifying nature documentary.

If you haven't watched the trailer, head to Youtube after you finish this review and give it a watch. What you'll experience are tiny high resolution cameras mounted to the backs of agile birds as they trek great distances, incredibly numbing altitudes and navigate the bodies of dense and stunning wilderness with awesome nimbleness; like the forest scene where a hawk weaves at light-speed around massive tree's seeking its next...

Fantastic.
I was sitting on the beach a few weeks ago on the Peninsula Valdez next to a cameraman from the BBC. Both of us had photo permits from the government of Argentina to film the Orcas attacking sea lions on the beach. Later on I asked him what he was doing. I did notice he was filming in 3-D. He told me they were remaking a series called Earth Flight in 3-d and told me I could find it on Amazon.

When I got home, I debated whether to spend so much money on this series. I finally ordered. My wife and I are sophisticated wildlife travelers and photographers and have high expectations for this type of material. We were not disappointed. This series competes very well with the very popular Winged Migration except that there is so much more material. We also enjoyed the 6th episode which showed how they went about much of the filming.

What do Orcas have to do with birds? Petrels come in droves to feed on sea lion remains.

The birds would approve...
I envy birds... but this documentary leveled things off a little bit. The views from those cameras on the birds make you feel that you are riding on top of these incredible winged creatures and that they share what they see and how things look from there. It's a beautiful world, beautifully presented.

Clannad: After Story - Complete Collection [Blu-ray]

The Unrecognized Masterpiece
First I am just a medical student, though I have taken film and media study classes I want people to know that I don't feel that I am in a position to make any grand claims and such. All the following of my review is just my opinion.

It would be impossible even given a book sized amount of text to describe the artistic and storytelling merit of this work. While I could praise this work for hours I will try to give people who are interested a quick overview. Truth be told, I am not an anime fan, in fact you can say I greatly dislike anime. I am also not a fan of love stories, romance, tragic stories, school life stories, or of Japanese works in which I had to read the English subtitles, but Clannad was all of this and it blew my mind. I have been searching my whole life for a work I could call a masterpiece and this was it. I was forced to watch this by a younger sibling and though I struggled within the first episode this work won me over. I have never seen a work so well...

Let me make one thing perfectly clear. I love this show. The characters are great, the stories are fantastic and it's just a wonderful show.

Having said that, the box sucks. This is the first anime DVD I've bought, so I don't know if this is common place, but the set comes with four discs that are just stacked on top of each other like I bought a hundred blank dvds. Usually when I get a DVD box set, the individual disks are in a sort of book where you can flip through and pick out an individual disk. I guess doing this saves space, but that's something else about the box that doesn't make sense. The disks take up a little more than half of the total interior of the box and the rest is filled with a white foam sheet. I want to take it out because it looks incredibly ghetto, but I'm afraid that if I do, the disks will fall out and get scratched in the box.

The actual disks are nice. This version includes the Japanese and English dubs as well as English...

Clannad: After Story is Amazing!
Clannad and Clannad: After Story are two of my favorite anime's. Clannad: After Story picks up where Clannad left off, with Tomoya and Nagisa in a relationship. The story follows the ups and downs of their relationship, from bouts of Nagisa's sickness to Tomoya's struggles with his father and not wanting to be like him and wanting to take care of Nagisa. The pacing of the show is excellent and it never gets boring, it can go from hilarious hijinks (Nagisa's parents) to really tragic moments that make you feel for the characters and what they are going through. I cant remember a recent anime that actually made me care for the characters, it can be a real tear-jerker sometimes. Moving on from the story this anime also has some of the best animation you will find, its very crisp and clean. As for the audio department, the English dubs aren't bad but you lose some of the innuendo's and subtlety's of the Japanese audio track, as with most dubs in my opinion. Videomaker's How To: Directing and Pre-Production

Right On
I was impressed by this DVD. It's short but straight to the point. It's what they teach in the film making course here at the College. If you stick closely to these guidelines it should improve performance on any set. I've been with a College group for a while and when they get lax on these guidelines the shoots last twice as long as they should.
