Pretty realistic weapon demonstrations
After reading the review by a customer who didn't receive all 6 videos, I decided to gamble and received them all.
A real opponent will present himself as a body bag only so long before resisting, at which point any long chain of attacks and defenses you are using is probably broken. However, Dan Inosanto appears to believe in diminishing returns and a resisting opponent, so I won't be adding his videos to my out box (the trash can) with other videos that fail to address the above. Dan Inosanto's demonstration partner moves with fluid attacks of his own and Dan Inosanto's combinations are usually brief. The videos remain close to the theme of weapon fighting throughout, though some disarms with grappling and hand to hand are covered. Someone with current Jiu Jitsu or Krav Maga training would find this section a little dated. Just remember the unarmed moves are frequently modifications of attacks and defenses with weapons, giving another way to drill stick and...
Save Your Money.
The information contained in these videos is first rate. You would expect nothing less from Dan Inosanto.
The problem is that this DVD set is missing Volume One. Instead, you will receive two copies of Volume Two.
When I reported this to Amazon, they sent me a whole new replacement set. Unfortunately, the replacement
set was plagued by the same deficiency. The problem is not with Amazon. There is a flaw on the
manufacturing and packaging side. Although the DVD jackets say Volume One and Volume Two. Both
contain Volume Two.
For $149, I can't accept a missing DVD. I will be returning both sets to Amazon for a full refund.
It's Dan Inosanto okay.
Each dvd is about an hr long. It looks like it was filmed in the 70s or 80s but that doesn't bother me. Dan Inosanto is a great martial artist and in this dvd he shares a lot of knowledge about Filipino martial arts. Its worth the money if your +really into martial arts. If you just want a dvd for some self defense this is not for you. If you want an in depth study of Filipino martial arts you'd be hard pressed to find a better set than this.
